Wednesday wishes. Old and new, lots of work, plans and changes

I decided to keep going with the “Wednesday wishes” section i had on the old blog. I think it’s more to my own benefit rather than a regular blog post because it surely keeps me more organized. I remind myself of the things i must do, things i plan to do, things i wish i had more time to do… And that feeling when marking one of them as “done” is totally amazing! So yes, as i was saying, it’s surely for my sake.

Since there were quite a few of them left on the other blog, i decided to gather them all here and add the ones i currently have. So working my way up, here we go!

wednesday

* Get all the items for the letterpress shop and for the packaging shop done and photographed. This will definitely take a while as new items keep piling up! Since it’s spring now, i hope the weather will allow me to work with the camera soon enough.

* Reach 1500 likes on FBS’s Facebook and 6000 followers on FBS’s Twitter.

* Reach 500 likes on FPS’s Facebook and 1000 followers on FPS’s Twitter. I am having some doubts about the Twitter account though, as i think it would probably be best to keep everything on just one… Not sure about this one yet.

* Make lists. I really need lists in my life. They keep me well organized and i feel pumped up after i complete them.
* Blog more. I really like blogging, but the lack of free time is killing me! There are also a bunch of cool blogs i keep following and i also wish i could interact with other bloggers more.

* Make lemonade. We usually drink lemonade during summer, but why not now also? I like lemonade.

* Things for the new studio: get a pin board, wall decoration, inspiration blog posts, new table and a memory jar.

* Squeeze some time for cooking. At least during weekends. Seriously!

* New music on my phone. In the morning, on my way to work i listen to music. Need some new songs there.

* Buy tulips. I’m not really a flowers person, but i seem to have a thing for tulips.

* Smile more! There are so many reasons to smile and be happy lately and yet i keep seeing the things that are the exact opposite. Need to focus on the good things. Take it slow and let the good times roll!

* Take photos! I really need to do something about this problem i have with photography…

* Go out more, see new places, try new food!

Well that’s about it for this round of WW. Hopefully i’ll be able to cross them off the list soon enough.

Pantone color of 2015 – Marsala [Etsy treasury]

According to Pantone, the trending color of 2015 is Marsala. A bit of an inside joke: after communicating this fact to a friend, he concluded with “Are you making up words now?”

marsala pantone

Marsala, the best way i can put it, is a combination of dark red and copper; somehow close to the color of ripened sour cherries. Even though it is considered more of a summer shade, i just can’t seem to wrap my mind around it. I definitely find it a fall color, but hey! beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?

Well keeping Marsala in mind as the Pantone color of 2015, here’s the very first color themed treasury i’ve put together:

Custom letterpress business cards. General ideas and introduction

Custom letterpress business cards is the very first “serious” subject i chose to blog about as i can also look at it like it’s an introductory post.

Short letterpress introduction

I’ve explained briefly what letterpress is in our FAQ and Terms section, but i’m pretty sure more and more people are already familiar with this process even though it’s so old. The reason for that is the sudden rebirth of letterpress printing appealing to more and more people each day. As terrible of a photographer as i am, you can still clearly see the indentation letterpress printing leaves on the piece of card stock. That is basically what people are looking for as well as good quality, thick card stock.

In this era of technology paper is indeed losing ground, but no matter how advanced technology gets paper will surely always be used. The rebirth of letterpress printing comes as one of the responses to this technology evolution. Nowadays, when exchanging contact information all you need is your mobile phone. We even started sending wedding invitations through emails! RSVPs? Just a text message away… Well letterpress printing came to show that a tangible, physical object will surely leave a lasting impression that will definitely be beneficial on the long term.

In the custom letterpress business cards’ case, you can even see in our photos (if you haven’t already had one) that they are way different than regular, digital printed business cards; they are special, they provide an exquisite visual and tactile experience that will make it difficult for the receiver to throw it away. Having someone write your number in their phone will simply mean adding a new name in a long list that’s already more than half forgotten. Do you want that person to actually consider you for a future business? Do you actually want that person to call you back or send an email? Make that statement directly through your custom letterpress business cards. The receiver will surely have a hard time throwing your custom letterpress business cards away, so having one on his desk every day, being reminded of you every day will surely increase the chances of getting back to you, right?

Welcome to Funky Print Studio!

letterpress cardsHello and welcome to Funky Print Studio! The time has finally come when i, Andreea, your personal customer service provider can wholeheartedly welcome you to our new letterpress shop and website.

It is definitely a turning point for us as we’ve been providing gift boxes and other paper supplies since April 2013 on our Funky Box Studio shop and now, 2 years later, we are extremely excited, happy, thrilled to be expanding into the letterpress printing world. We’ve definitely worked hard to get to this point, but it is such an accomplishment for us that it surely makes it worth it.

So what exactly do you do?, oh yes, i can hear your question there! We at Funky Print Studio offer letterpress printing services materialized in letterpress business cards, letterpress wedding invitations, simple flat cards or folded cards, coasters, tags, stationery etc. Our studio was born after careful consideration, out of love for printing, card stock and paper, colors and art. We had a huge interest in letterpress for a good chunk of time, but only recently decided to open a studio of our own. It is still far from what we have in mind as a final goal, but hey! we do have to begin at some point, right?

We sure hope our services will be put to good use and our letterpress printed items will help in leaving a lasting impression on your guests, your clients, yourself.
