Hot foil save the date cards on burgundy card stock

Continuing with the series of designs i created (and i’m proud of! :D), today we have these highly elegant gold hot foil save the date cards pressed on burgundy card stock.

Even though it’s been a while since we made these, they’re still among my favorite. That’s also because i love the gold foil and burgundy card stock combination. All of this matched with a simple, minimal design, makes these save the date cards just perfect. There wasn’t a need for a complex design; the burgundy card stock makes the metallic gold foil pop. The minimal design toned everything down perfectly. There was also no need for a large size format; these beautiful hot foil cards are just 3.5 x 2.5 inches.

I really enjoyed working on these cards. I love bold choices, like our client chose to use the burgundy card stock. Usually the various shades of white card stock are the most commonly used, so i’m getting excited every time we have a project where we’d be using a colored card stock. To be honest, i wish i could convince more of our clients to use bold colors. Hehe!

I’m curious: what bold card stock color would you try (for business cards, hang tags, invitations, any stationery really)? :)

Have a colorful day!

Hot foil wedding stationery set

I kept thinking which projects to start blogging about and this hot foil wedding stationery set kept running around my mind. I’m actually very proud of it!

This is my own creation, so it makes it that much more special. I loved creating it! The client’s views matched mine so well that the entire process was stimulating and a lot of fun. The fonts choices, the tiger symbol, the overall gold foil, they all put together seem like a beautiful combination of strength and elegance. The set exceeded my expectations really.

The set includes wedding invitations, RSVP cards and reception cards, all printed in gold hot foil on Snow White card stock. I don’t usually go for gold foil on white card stock, but some designs are perfect for this combination and this is definitely such an example.

The best part of it is that, since it’s my design, i can easily change the tiger symbol with any other that would fit the theme of the wedding. That reminds me we recently worked on an awesome wedding set that had a compass as a symbol and i totally loved it! I should definitely take some photos (eternal problem).

Have a colorful day!

Latest letterpress and hot foil printing projects. Bonus, exciting news!

We’ve been working like crazy lately and i figured i should share some of our latest letterpress and hot foil printing projects. Since there were quite a lot of them, i just had to pick somehow and it wasn’t easy. That’s because i really loved working on each of these projects! I loved the artwork (a bit of self-praise here, as some of them are designed by me) and i loved the end result. The best part of all is that our clients were happy with them too and that’s really the best feeling you could have regarding your own business.

So without further ado, let’s get started!

letterpress business cards

It really doesn’t matter what Pantone says, grey is definitely the color for letterpress. We’ve had so many projects in grey ink even from our very beginning about 2 years ago! Even now, the projects i’m presenting now are most of them printed in grey ink… You can’t deny the power of grey! Well these letterpress cards above rocked grey ink! gold foil tags

This time around we have gold hot foil tags. My personal favorite combinations for hot foil printing are the ones that use darker colored card stock; i feel like the shiny metallic foil stands out a lot more. However, it highly depends on the design too. And if it’s a simple, minimal design such as the one above, then it works wonders on our Snow White card stock as well!

letterpress hang tags

I was totally in love with the color combination of these tags and the design as well! Using 2 ink colors on small tags is not that popular, although seeing how these cuties turned out, i definitely think it should!letterpress square tags

Getting back to the grey area, the letterpress square hang tags above and the rectangular ones underneath are both printed in grey ink on our puffy Wild card stock. I love using this card stock for designs that have thin elements or thin fonts. Since it has 35% cotton in it, this card stock allows a deeper indentation. letterpress rectangular tags letterpress round cards

The design for the letterpress round cards cards above is absolutely beautiful (no, sadly, i wasn’t the one who created it)! Using grey papier mache for round cards is actually quite popular in our little studio. I never would have thought, actually…  copper hot foil save the dates

Finally, i am proud to say that the design for the copper hot foil save the dates above is created by me and is has gotten really popular! See what i was saying before with the combination of hot foil printing and darker colored card stock? We used a dark grey card stock (of course, back to grey again!) and copper hot foil.

Well, these are only a few of the letterpress and hot foil printing projects we’ve been working on lately, but you can see more of them on our Instagram.

And finally, i did mention something about some good news, right? Well, i am happy to say that starting tomorrow, we’ll have a special sale offer for our letterpress and hot foil printing projects!! So stay tuned and find out how you’ll be able to get custom letterpress or hot foil printed business cards, hang tags, wedding stationery, business stationery or any other type of card at a far better offer than usual!!

The Funky Studio Team wishes you, as always, a colorful day!

[Behind the scenes] Letterpress wedding set in navy blue

The letterpress wedding set we created for Bronwyn & D-Jei was the very first one we ever created and it was a very fun project to work on. Every time we work on a wedding set it feels very special; we’re thankful that people choose us to play a part in their most important event of their lives. I must admit, it’s also a bit more burdensome on some level especially because of the extremely personal implications. That’s probably also why being praised for these projects feel so much more rewarding!

letterpress wedding setWe first started with the letterpress save the date cards a while back. We came up with a few different designs and our lovely client decided on the one you can see in the photos. Later on, we created the wedding invitations and ceremony invitations to match the previously made save the dates. However, this time, we printed the invitations in navy blue ink, adding matching navy blue envelopes. In addition, we personalized the envelopes with the bride & groom’s names in blind impression. We ended up with a cohesive, simple, but modern and sharp letterpress wedding set that we’re quite proud of! The printing process went smoothly as well (yes, that’s a very big deal actually! On another project we ended up redoing the polymer plate several times before printing! Ugh!)

Here are the short technical details for our letterpress wedding set:

  • Save the date cards – 450gsm Snow White card stock, one side printing, 9 x 5 cm, one ink color – black
  • Ceremony invitations – 450gsm Snow White card stock, one side printing, 9 x 5 cm, one ink color – navy blue
  • Wedding invitations – 450gsm Snow White card stock, one side printing, 10 x 15cm, one ink color – navy blue
