Hot foil save the date cards on burgundy card stock

Continuing with the series of designs i created (and i’m proud of! :D), today we have these highly elegant gold hot foil save the date cards pressed on burgundy card stock.

Even though it’s been a while since we made these, they’re still among my favorite. That’s also because i love the gold foil and burgundy card stock combination. All of this matched with a simple, minimal design, makes these save the date cards just perfect. There wasn’t a need for a complex design; the burgundy card stock makes the metallic gold foil pop. The minimal design toned everything down perfectly. There was also no need for a large size format; these beautiful hot foil cards are just 3.5 x 2.5 inches.

I really enjoyed working on these cards. I love bold choices, like our client chose to use the burgundy card stock. Usually the various shades of white card stock are the most commonly used, so i’m getting excited every time we have a project where we’d be using a colored card stock. To be honest, i wish i could convince more of our clients to use bold colors. Hehe!

I’m curious: what bold card stock color would you try (for business cards, hang tags, invitations, any stationery really)? :)

Have a colorful day!

[Behind the scenes] Letterpress business cards with edge painting for Funky Box Studio

Even though it’s been quite some time since we made these letterpress business cards with edge painting for our boxes and packaging shop, and also announced that we were working on them, i couldn’t really move on to something else before having a proper presentation for them.

At some point i was talking about how each project still brings something new for us. Well this time around, it was definitely the edge painting process. Since it was something we really wanted to try, we figured we should first have our own letterpress business cards with edge painting. It was quite thrilling (for me, of course! i’m the emotional one in our studio!), but we so nailed it! Edge painting is quite a delicate process and it is absolutely critical that you get it right on the very first try. Otherwise, you have to reprint the cards all over again. Basically, do everything all over. I think i’ll have a separate post about this as there’s much to talk about!

Well guess what? Right after our experience, we had two projects where we were asked for edge painting! It’s actually quite a nice feeling to be able to tell your client “Yes, i can do that!” The first project also had black edge painting; the second one, however, was very tricky from several points of view, not just the orange edge painting. Will definitely talk about this soon!

Below you’ll see a photo of the business cards before the edge painting, then some photos taken during the edge painting process (it’s really not as easy as it might seem!), then our neighbors keeping a sharp eye on us while we were edge painting and finally the finished product: our letterpress business cards with edge painting!

Here are the short technical details for our business cards with edge painting:

  • 450gsm Snow White card stock, one side printing, 9 x 5 cm, 2 ink colors – black ink and magenta, black edge painting

FPS is currently working on: Funky Box Studio letterpress business cards

Even though our upcoming summer holiday is all i can think about, we’re still working hard on our Funky Box Studio letterpress business cards… among other things. I did mention before that we’re also working on a couple of custom letterpress business cards order (they’re so minimalist you can’t help falling in love with them! Aaaand one of the two is my own creation! *feeling proud*) and also a new letterpress tags order (since we’re using the card stock you haven’t really seen in our photos yet, i’m really excited to complete this project!). Nevertheless, i can only show you photos of our own Funky Box Studio letterpress business cards.

We’ve opened FBS more than 2 years ago, but i have been struggling to find a font and logo that i really liked. I was in a constant searching process and i wasn’t happy with any of the outcomes. Well finally, 2 years and 400 sales later, yours truly is completely happy with FBS’s logo and font design! Yeah, it only took me this much… and i still have to choose the card stock!

I can’t wait to show you photos from the printing process! That’s gonna be fun since we’ll also have 2 ink colors here. Playing with colors again!

In the mean time, don’t forget about our Christmas in July letterpress promotion! Free shipping for any order of letterpress printed items is definitely something you should take advantage of because finally, it doesn’t matter where you’re from! We’ll take care of all the shipping issues! We’d also highly appreciate it if you helped us spread the word! *bows*

PS: Why do i like those random inserts like *bows*, *feeling proud* so much? I don’t even use them on Facebook!

FPS is currently working on: custom letterpress save the date cards… again!

Yep, it appears that FPS is very lucky when it comes to custom letterpress save the date cards. This time around, the cards i’ve designed according to our lovely client’s requests are just a bit trickier: there are two ink colors printed on 450gsm China White card stock and we also have a bit of die-cutting!

Well this last photo i wasn’t exactly supposed to post as i hate ruining surprises, but i still wanted to show juuust a bit of everything: two ink colors, die-cutting, China White card stock. Also, since this photo is taken with my phone i think it’s safe to say that it’s not ruining much of the surprise, right? These custom letterpress save the date cards are yet another project i’m really proud of.
